Our role & history

The Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB) runs the only self-regulating scheme for fundraising bodies in the UK.  We are supported by the Office of the Third Sector, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Assembly Government

We are a not for profit company and are registered as a Community Interest Company

We oversee a transparent and independent scheme for fundraising, encouraging high standards so that we can increase public confidence in charitable giving.

We want you to be able to give with confidence to charities. We encourage charities and other fundraising organisations to become members of the FRSB scheme. As added reassurance for you we can also listen and help to resolve any concerns or complaints you might have about our members fundraising.

Our visible mark is the tick logo which our members are expected to use on all their marketing and fundraising materials. This is your mark of reassurance; a sign of the charity’s commitment to best practice in all fundraising activities.

We were set up in 2006 and launched to the public in February 2007 after wide consultation with key individuals from a range of charitable and governmental bodies. After further discussions with other sector bodies, such as the Charity Commission, a Steering Group was set up, led by Simon Hebditch of CAF (Charities Aid Foundation). A proposal and business plan was submitted to the Government and approved. Funding was initially supplied by the Office of the Third Sector and the Scottish Government. The Chair and Chief Executive of the FRSB were appointed in February 2006.
